More social housing for Bass Coast but, where will it be built?

Bass Coast has received a large funding injection to build more social housing but where will it be built?

Pressure being put on govt to ‘come up with answers’ for social housing problem

Up to 18 public housing units will be built on Victoria’s Bass Coast.

The region received $3.6m towards the project which would see new homes built in Cowes and Wonthaggi for people experiencing hardship.

Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale said the houses would allow people to “build their lives” in Bass Coast.

“We know there’s demand for social and affordable housing in the Bass Coast,” she said.

“As this beautiful area continues to grow, we need more social and affordable housing where people want to live, work and raise a family.”

Jordan Crugnale held a Housing Roundtable at Wonthaggi Library Tracey Cobb, Ashely Beaumont, Bec Wilson, Brendan Condon, Minister Danny Pearson, Chris McNamara, Jordan Crugnale MP, Helen Searle, Kristine MC Rae, Caroline Sibly, and Beth Banks.

The grant will create jobs in the Bass Coast, providing social and affordable housing to respond to the increase in population and regional employment opportunities and the need for housing support for community members.

Funding will be provided to Community Housing Limited, Housing Choices Australia Limited and the Haven Foundation.

The project is expected to commence next year.
