Five “toolies” have reportedly tested positive to Covid after joining Schoolies Week celebrations at Phillip Island.
The group is believed to have been at the island since November 20 before testing positive on Thursday, November 25 and have been isolating since.
One of the young men, believed to have graduated last year, told a schoolies social media group he was “sorry for the inconvenience”.
“I regret to inform you that a few mates and I have tested positive for Covid so if you have come into contact with me or any of my mates, I highly suggest you get tested and isolate,” the teenager said.
“Sorry for the inconvenience and enjoy your schoolies.”
The man also posted confirmation from the Department of Health, confirming he had Covid.
The group is believed to have visited a number of businesses between November 20-23 including North Pier Hotel from about 7pm until late on Saturday to Tuesday.
They also visited Woolworths, Coles, Gullivers Wine Bar & Eatery and a One Stop Discount Shop, as well as a popular Schoolies gathering point, the north pier, on November 22 and 23.
They will remain in isolation until December 4.
“I can first handedly guarantee you do not want to get this,” one of the young men who tested positive wrote on social media.
“All five of us who are positive aren’t having the best time rn.”
He also urged schoolies to get tested.
“Don’t be a twat and put others at risk just because you think it’s all bull s*** and ‘funny’,” he added.
There were 17 active Covid cases in Bass Coast as of Tuesday.
