A Leongatha boy is fighting against a rare and aggressive form of cancer at just three years old, turning his family’s world upside down.

Oskar Morris was recently diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma and has large tumour in his abdomen that has put pressure on his kidneys, bladder and intestines.

Oskar’s parents, Dale and Ella, will spend the next few months by his side at the Monash Children’s Hospital where he is receiving urgent treatment.

The pair will also be taking care of Oskar’s nine-month-old brother Arlo.

Mr and Mrs Morris’ friend, Alice Johnson, has set up a GoFundMe fundraiser — which has raised almost $27,000 — in order to help the Morris family.

Ms Johnson said the road ahead would be long as Oskar endures months of chemo, treatments and surgeries.

“I became friends with Ella and Dale after my son Otis went to daycare at Karmai in Korumburra with Oskar, where they formed a special friendship,” Ms Johnson wrote in the fundraiser.

“Oskar now attends the Leongatha Children’s Centre Day Care and is a lively, intelligent, kind and cheeky little boy.

“My heart breaks for the family and the challenging road they have ahead.”

Ms Johnson said nothing could ease the Morris family’s pain in watching their son battle cancer at a young age.

“I am calling on the warm, loving South Gippsland community to come together and support this family and help ease the financial burden of what a diagnosis like this means for them,” Ms Johnson said.

“The universe always has a plan. We do struggle to see it. Hoping for a time with good news from Oskar,” Jurgen Steen commented.

“Sending cyber hugs,” Heather Campbell wrote.

“Sending you all so much love and strength during this absolutely horrible time,” Kerri Mowbray also commented.

Ms Johnson added donations towards the cause would make a huge impact and assist Oskar to ensure him and his brother remain a number one priority to their parents and can fight this battle as one.

The money donated will also contribute to travel, accommodation costs, meals and babysitters.

“South Gippsland is a small, but mighty community and I know that together, we can help to ease this load during what is a very tragic and hard time for the family,” Ms Johnson said.
