Victim of Cowes fatal crash, Jake Munday, has been remembered by loved ones

The victim of a tragic single vehicle crash has been remembered by loved ones as a “bright light”.

The young victim of a horror crash on Phillip Island on Saturday night has been remembered as a “bright light” that touched many lives.

Jake Munday, 19, was killed in a single vehicle crash on Saturday in Cowes after he was a passenger in allegedly lost control and crashed into a tree.

Friends have rallied around his family to support them during this time by setting up a GoFundMe page, raising over $16,000 in the first four hours.

The page describes the loss of Mr Munday as “unimaginable” and calls for the community to rally around the Munday family.

“In the wake of an unimaginable loss, we extend our deepest condolences and unwavering support to the Munday family, who are navigating the darkest of times after the heartbreaking passing of their beloved son Jake,” the page reads.

“Words cannot adequately convey the depth of sorrow and anguish that Meg, Mark, Mia and Liv are experiencing. Losing a child/brother is an indescribable pain that shakes the very foundations of a family, leaving them shattered and forever changed,” it continued.

Mr Munday lived in Cowes and leaves behind his mum and dad and his siblings.

The fundraiser described Mr Munday as a “precious son” who will be “forever cherished”.

“By joining hands, we aim to give the family the space and time they need to mourn their loss, grieve, and find peace in the memories of their precious son,” the fundraiser said.

Others have taken to social media to remember Mr Munday.

A family friend wrote “he was one of the happiest, kindest and most generous kids”.

Mr Munday attended Newhaven College and finished school just last year.

The school said Mr Munday was a “loyal and kind young man” who was “much liked by his peers and teachers”.
