A driver has died after their crashed into a tree, causing it to burst into flames, south of Rosedale in the state’s east.

Paramedics were called to the scene where a car crashed into a tree and bursted into flames in Carrajung Lower on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the Hyland Hwy in Carrajung Lower about 2.50pm on Tuesday.

“The yet to be identified driver of the car died at the scene,” a police spokesperson said.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.”

It has taken the state road toll 19, compared to 23 lives lost on Victoria’s roads this time in 2023.
