A 53-year-old Traralgon man bashed his mate in Moe while he was “indefensible” and being held down, a court has heard.

Darren Allott was fined $1500 with conviction in Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to recklessly causing injury, possession of heroin and drink driving.

The court heard the victim was at his home in Moe when Allott and two of his mates knocked on his door and started yelling at him to come out.

An argument started about an unresolved issue between the men escalating into a physical fight.

A court heard one of the offenders ran behind the victim and restrained him while Allott and the co-accused began repeatedly punching his body and head, then hit him with a beer bottle over the back of his head.

The victim managed to escape and fled into his neighbour’s property where he remained until the three men left.

Police and ambulance attended the victim’s house and he was taken to the Latrobe Regional Hospital where he received stitches for the laceration in the back of his head.
