Devastating news rocked the Korrine and District Junior Tennis community in March when players had to abandon the competition in Grand Final week due to COVID-19.
Now the competition is back better than ever.
36 junior teams from Wonthaggi, Inverloch, San Remo, Phillip Island, Korumburra and Poowong will begin play on October 10.
Players and spectators can expect a COVID-19 safe competition with brand new courts at Wonthaggi and Inverloch.
Korrine and District Junior Tennis committee member Letitia Condron said she is excited the competition is returning.
“We nearly got to the end of last season but the kids missed that so it’s good to be back playing,” Ms Condron said.
She said the kids are happy they will be returning to play on “brand spanking” new courts.
“At Wonthaggi Tennis Club they have redone the carpark, made pathways and added news lights,” she said.
“They have upgraded it pretty well.”
Ms Condron said the junior tennis competition will be adhering to the COVID-19 rules set by Tennis Victoria.
Facilities except toilets will remain closed and a cap of 10 participants per court is permitted.
Spectators are not permitted unless supervising children or assisting players with additional needs.
