A car has rolled and landed upside down in San Remo after a two-car collision, that put two people in hospital and caused afternoon traffic delays.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Phillip Island Rd and near the intersection of Bergin Grove in San Remo — just before the San Remo Bridge — about 2.30pm on Wednesday.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said two people were taken to Bass Coast Health for observation.

Delays were expected for drivers travelling over the bridge to Phillip Island.

Several Facebook users took to Facebook the Bergin Grove intersection was “long overdue” for upgrades.

“Bad intersection, someone always trying to beat traffic and pull out — constantly banked up turning onto main road from shops,” user Megan Dennis wrote.

“It’s a shocker if you are trying to turn right from the shops onto the main road, I’ve seen lots of near misses there,” Melisa Albers commented.
