Wonthaggi Hospital has seen its first baby born this year, with a baby girl coming into the world last week.

Adeline Grace Crowder was born at 9.20am on January 3, making her the very first babe born in the hospital for 2023.

The South Dudley parents Michael Crowder and Jayde Kelly said they couldn’t be happier with their daughter.

“It’s pretty exciting to know that Adeline is the first baby born here for the year. It will be great to look back at in years to come,” Mr Crowder said.

The new parents were overjoyed when their bundle of joy was born healthy at 3.3kg.

“All the staff were amazing. They genuinely care and they were approachable so you could ask them for anything,” Ms Kelly said.

“The service was great and the staff enjoy a laugh,” Mr Crowder added.

In 2022, 180 babies were born at Wonthaggi Hospital, up slightly from 173 in 2021.
