Stockland Shopping Centre has applied to add a Mexican fast food chain restaurant to its footprint in Wendouree which would stay open until 3am six days a week.

The proposed $1.9 million Guzman Y Gomez would be located on the western side of Stockland at 330 Gillies Street, taking up 39 of the existing car parks.

To make up the loss of parking, 48 parks would be added to north east of the shopping centre.

The restaurant would seat 50 patrons and have a drive-through with two order points.

Zebra crossings would permit pedestrians to cross the area and reach the existing footpath.

Access to Stockland would not change, and trading hours for the new shop are proposed to be 6am to 3am from Monday to Saturday, and 6am to midnight on Sunday.

Guzman Y Gomez sells Mexican fast food, as well as beer and frozen cocktails.

The development application is currently before the City of Ballarat and is subject to approval.
