A 78-year-old Sebastopol man was arrested on Thursday night after an alleged assault at a hotel that left another elderly gentleman in a critical condition.

An elderly Sebastopol man has been hospitalised in a critical condition after he was allegedly assaulted by another pub-goer in his 70s.
Emergency services were called to the X on Albert Hotel in Sebastopol after 7pm on Thursday over an alleged serious assault.
A 76-year-old man received serious injuries and was driven to Ballarat Base Hospital in a critical condition.
Police arrested a 78-year-old, also from Sebastopol, and released him pending further inquiries.
They believe the men knew each other.
