Pedestrian killed in Western Hwy, Nerrina truck smash

A person has died after being hit by a truck in Victoria’s west, while motorists are advised traffic diversions are in place on the Western Hwy.

A person has died after being hit by a truck in Victoria’s west.

Police are at the scene after a pedestrian was struck by the vehicle on the Western Fwy in Nerrina about 5.25am.

The driver of the truck was not injured and stopped at the scene, near Doodts Rd.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.

Traffic is significantly backed up and Melbourne-bound motorists are being urged to allow extra time.

Vehicles are being diverted between the Midland Hwy and Daylesford Rd.

Advice from Vic Traffic is to “consider using Midland Hwy, Victoria St and Ballarat-Burrumbeet Rd as alternatives around the closure”.
