A Ballarat man who ripped part of a resident’s door off and threatened to set their car on fire bashed another man by punching him in the face seven times.

Robert Daniel Haley appeared from custody at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, pleading guilty to eight charges.

The court heard Haley went to a home intoxicated on a night in early 2024, ripped a fly screen off the front door and flicked a lighter, threatening to burn the occupant’s car.

Police found a lighter a short distance away after they arrived at the property.
