Bad weather forces cancellation of 2022 Colac Show

For the third year in a row, the Colac Show won’t go ahead. Find out why.

The Colac Agricultural Show will not go ahead this weekend after continuous heavy rainfall forced its cancellation.

The show was expected to take place on Saturday — the first show in three years without any Covid restrictions or capacities.

“Constant and continuing heavy rain has the showgrounds badly waterlogged and there is no prospect of it drying out before show day,” the Colac Show committee posted to Facebook.

Due to water flowing into some areas of the showgrounds, it would not be a safe outdoor environment for locals and surrounding visitors, they said.

Locals expressed their disappointement on social media.

“Hard call, but well done on having safety first,” Simone Hayes commented on the post.

“How disappointing for everyone, particularly for the committee who have worked so hard to get the show up and running again after two years of no show. Next year,” Vicki Marr said.

“Very sorry for the committee and all the volunteers, well done for the continuing effort you all put in,” Kathleen Niblett-Graham commented.

A new date will be set for the show jumping competition that was originally scheduled for the November 12 and 13.
