A straw poll of early voters in Indi has put incumbent Independent Helen Haines in front on day two of pre-polling.
As hundreds of Wodonga locals flocked to the polls on Tuesday for a second day of early voting, 42 of 100 people Albury Wodonga News spoke to said they were voting for Ms Haines.
Most voters were seniors with only a few middle-aged people and Millennials attending.
One lady with a young daughter said she voted for Ms Haines because she felt Ms Haines had supported the region.

The battle between Labour candidate Nadia David and Liberal candidate Ross Lyman was tight, with each earning 20 and 21 votes respectively.
Labour Party candidate Nadia David said it was an “exciting” day for her party.
“It’s the end of eight months of really hard work and we’re getting a really good response from people,” she said.
Others said they voted Liberal because they didn’t “trust the others” or that Labor “scares” them.
The Greens and the National Party received just three votes while One Nation got four.
United Australia, the Animal Justice Party and the Justice Party all received two votes while two residents chose to submit a donkey vote, saying “no one deserves it”.
Mauric Rapsey voted for the United Australia Party because he felt they were the only party to support truck drivers.
Mr Rapsey said road facilities were substandard and the attitudes of regular drivers hinder his work, as have rising fuel prices.
