Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a group home in Albury’s north at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Shaw Street in Springdale Heights on Saturday night after neighbours noticed flames coming from a property.

NSW police and Fire and Rescue NSW rushed to the property in response.

Once the blaze was extinguished it was determined that it had been deliberately lit.

“The damage [was] confined to two wheelie bins which were placed under the electrical power box and set on fire,” a police spokesman said.

The residents from the group home were evacuated and no injuries were reported.

The suspicious fire is being investigated by the Murray River Police District, who have established a crime scene and have started investigations into the fire.
