East Albury: Police investigate after 38-year-old man shot

Police are investigating after a 38-year-old man was shot in Albury following a “verbal altercation” on the street.

Victorian government should be 'heartily ashamed of themselves'

Police say a shooting in East Albury on Tuesday night is “absolutely unrelated” to an unsolved murder in Wodonga on Sunday.

Investigations are continuing after a 38-year-old man was shot at 10pm on Tuesday night.

Emergency services were called to Eastern Circuit in East Albury following reports of a shooting.

A 38-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Albury Base Hospital.

He has since undergone surgery and remains in a stable condition.

Three separate crime scenes have been established in East Albury and are being examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Stoltenberg from the Murray River Police Conference said the man was shot following a verbal fight on the street.

“[The victim] was conveyed to Albury Base Hospital where he underwent surgery. Thankfully, he is in a stable condition,” he said.

“We do have a line of enquiry that we’re following through at this time. Obviously it’s very early on.”

Police confirmed the two parties were known to each other.

No arrests have been made.

Tuesday’s shooting comes after an Albury father was shot and killed at a house in Wodonga in early hours of Sunday morning.

Investigations are continuing.
