Regional teams make a big return to the court
Junior basketball is set to make a triumphant return in country Victoria this weekend and you can watch it live.
The competition will see over 2500 players from 270 teams representing all corners of the state descend on central Victoria with state and national representatives set to be on show.
Teams will compete from under 12s up to under 20s with prize money on offer for the teams who take home the championship divisions.
Bendigo Basketball Association president Martin Spottiswood said he was looking forward to a “high quality” competition.
“We’re really excited by this partnership and can’t wait to show our tournament off to people across Victoria,” he said.
“We’ve been fortunate to be able to run the competition for the past couple of years relatively normally despite the ongoing pandemic.
“But this year there won’t be caps on the number of people who attend which means more family and friends can come along.
“In total, we will attract about 7500 people to the region which is a massive boost for Greater Bendigo.”
Bendigo Basketball Stadium will be the centre of the action with 10 courts in action at the venue with local schools in the surrounding area helping taking the total to 21.
