The search for Albury-Wodonga’s best hairdresser is over, and The Albury Wodonga News can reveal we have a two-way tie, with one hairdresser from each side of the border.
With almost 30 finalists, Tanya Kothe from Latch Hair and Beauty, and Bianca Krech from BiancaLee Hair Designs have taken out the title of Albury-Wodonga’s best hairdressers.

Ms Kothe said she couldn’t believe she had won, after only opening her Wodonga salon in April.

“I’ve actually got goosebumps, it’s amazing,” Ms Kothe said.

“To have that much support is amazing.

“Especially because we have so many good hairdressers in Albury-Wodonga.”

Ms Kothe has been a hairdresser for 10 years, and after going on maternity leave, she decided she wanted to open her own salon in a bid to do something extra for herself and her family.

“When the salon came up for sale my partner and I decided it was time to start, so we jumped in and haven’t looked back,” Ms Kothe said.
“It was hard but everything is falling into place.”

She said her favourite thing about being a hairdresser was the ability to make someone’s day.

“I love how you can change someone’s bad day to an amazing day by doing their colour,” Ms Kothe said.

“I like that they’re going to come in, they get to relax, and they leave feeling amazing.”

Bianca Krech said she felt overwhelmed by the support from the Albury-Wodonga community who nominated her as cities’ joint best hairdresser.

After being stood down from her job at a Wodonga salon due to the pandemic, Ms Krech launched BiancaLee Hair Designs in May.

While the borders were closed, Ms Krech rented a chair at Latch Hair and Beauty for five weeks, before moving to her current location at Fuss Hair Studio in Albury.

“I love every part of hairdressing,” Ms Krech said.
Ms Krech had a special message for those who voted for her to become Albury-Wodonga’s best hairdresser.

“Thank you for believing in me and for all the support,” she said.

“I love what I do for them.”
