Work will begin work on stage one of a $3.65m upgrade on the Riverina Highway near Balldale, about 15km northwest of Howlong, this month.
The Transport for NSW major project will begin on Monday, November 23 and will be carried out between 7am and 6pm weekdays and between 7am and 1pm Saturdays, and is expected to be completed by the April 2021, weather permitting.
Changed traffic conditions will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists including traffic control, lane closures and reduced speed limits.
Motorists are advised to plan their journey and allow extra travel time.
Access to property will be impacted during some stages of the project.
Property owners will be contacted and traffic controllers will be in place to guide road users.
State MP for Albury Justin Clancy said the four-year project would improve safety and reduce maintenance costs along the Riverina Highway.
“The project involves upgrading a 3.4km section of the Riverina Highway, which will contribute to a smoother and safer journey for all motorists,” Mr Clancy said.
“This work will improve safety on the Riverina Highway and reduce future maintenance costs by rebuilding the road surface, widening shoulders, and installing rumble strips and wide centre lines.
“We look forward to delivering the first stage of this upgrade and will continue to keep the community informed on the project’s progress.”
