Aged care centres in Albury-Wodonga have been given the stamp of approval by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.
Local centres have met all 44 quality standard requirements over eight categories.
Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner Janet Anderson said there were currently no compliance actions being taken out on any Albury-Wodonga aged care services.
At the peak of the pandemic the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission modified its regulatory program to increase the frequency of assessment contacts by deferring or adjusting some re-accreditation site audits.
The commission resumed re-accreditation site audits from August 2020.
However, during the interim period, when the pandemic risk was most prevalent, any residential aged care service due for re-accreditation was granted ‘exceptional circumstances’ and the site audit was deferred – including Yallaroo in Albury and Bupa Wodonga, which had their accreditation extended until January 2021.
“In relation to Yallaroo in Albury and Bupa Wodonga residential aged care services, the Department of Health exercised this exceptional circumstances provision under the Aged Care Act to extend the effective accreditation period of these services” Ms Anderson said.
“Yallaroo is now accredited until 25 January 2021 and Bupa Wodonga until 12 January 2021.
“The Commission is planning to conduct an unannounced site audit prior to the expiry dates to assess the services’ compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards.
“Both services have no current compliance action or identified noncompliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards.”
