Melburnians flock outdoors despite restrictions

People have flocked outside in droves, despite Melbourne’s stage four restrictions limiting exercise and forbidding public gatherings. It comes as community transmission continues to increase, with hundreds of infections classified as “mystery” cases overnight.

St Albans brothel busted for flouting COVID restrictions

Another backyard brothel in Melbourne’s west has paid the price for operating during lockdown, with police dishing out over $8,000 worth of fines to a group of men and women who were flouting restrictions in St Albans. It comes as Victoria recorded 14 virus deaths, including a man in his 20s.

Another minister dodges responsibility for hotel fiasco

Transport Minister Jacinta Allan is the latest in the Andrews Government to dodge questions on hotel quarantine at a parliamentary inquiry. It was also revealed that transport representatives attended the meeting where it was decided to use private security for the bungled scheme.

Federal government warned of aged care staff shortage

Scott Morrison said the recent horrific scenes in Victoria’s aged care homes “had not been anticipated or foreshadowed” but the government was warned months before that workforce shortages were the biggest issues in nursing homes during the coronavirus pandemic.
