Snow falls as Antarctic chill hits Victoria

Another snowy blast in the Alps has broken records at Falls Creek today. With 40cm in the last 24hrs, the resort has had over 112cm of new snow this week making it the largest June snowfall since 1991. Tom Costa enjoys epic conditions at Falls Creek. Anthony O'Shea of Falls Creek Ski Lifts said, "We're right in the middle of one of the best June snowstorms in years. And like everyone on the mountain, we were up all night just watching all this snow fall." "The entire mountain is cloaked in white. More than 40cm fell overnight and it's been getting steadily heavier this morning. Who knows how much snow we're going to end up with out of this system, but some forecasts see us with more than a metre before the school holidays start at the end of the week. Interest in our social media and hits on our website are just exploding. It feels like everyone in Australia is just busting to ski Falls." More snowfalls are forecast into early next week, with the resort expecting to break the 100cm base tomorrow.
