Travis Kelce could fly to Melbourne for Taylor Swift’s MCG shows

Superstar Taylor Swift is gearing up to play her biggest ever shows in Melbourne this month and it’s looking increasingly likely her beau Travis Kelce will fly in to cheer her on.

Taylor Swift’s beau Travis Kelce could make an appearance in Melbourne for the superstar’s Australian leg of the Eras Tour in two weeks.

The NFL star qualified for the Super Bowl after the Kansas City Chiefs stormed to victory on Sunday night US time.

The game is set to be played in Las Vegas on February 11, giving Kelce a few days to celebrate – if the Chiefs win – and fly Down Under to support his girlfriend at her biggest ever show at the MCG.

Australian NFL expert Jaymz Clements said Super Bowl celebrations could last three days.

“Typically you’ll see two to three days of hardcore partying,” he said.

“With this Super Bowl already in Vegas, the party is right there on their doorstop, so it’d be no surprise if the Chiefs party extremely hearty for at least two days.”

Mr Clements said the Super Bowl parade would most likely fall on February 14, meaning Kelce could make it for Swift’s first show at the MCG on February 16.

“The people who most want to party outside of the players are the fans, but they tend to have to wait a few days,” he said.

“The last few years the Super Bowl parade has landed on the Wednesday following Sunday’s game.

“I’d say there’s a great chance he heads over to Australia for a bit of rest and relaxation after another long season.”

Mr Clements said there was “no chance” Kelce would skip the parade.

“Especially if he wins Super Bowl MVP, and not after he’s become one of the biggest celebrities in the sport,” he said.

“Celebrating with the team will come first.”

In a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, hosted by Kelce and his brother Jason, the pair hinted about recording in Australia.

“We also got an opportunity to do one in Australia if you want to go there … we could make it a world tour I guess,” Jason said.

Kelce is no stranger to the Eras Tour, attending his first show at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium in July last year.

This was the first time the pair were publicly linked together before they confirmed their romance in September.

On his podcast, Kelce revealed that he had planned to give Swift his number via a friendship bracelet at the show but didn’t get the opportunity.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings,” he said.

“So I was a little butthurt that I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

But the footballer later explained he received help from people close to the singer.

Kelce was then spotted at the Buenos Aires’ Estadio River Plate concert in November, watching from the VIP tent with Swift’s father Scott.

There’s no doubt the couple have both benefited from each other’s stardom, opening fans’ eyes to their different worlds.

Swifties are now across the rules of NFL whereas football fans know the words to Karma after the megastar swapped the lyric “Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me” for “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me” at her Argentina show.

Kelce has been in the limelight for more than a decade with the footballer considered one of the greatest “tight ends” in NFL history.

He was drafted by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2013 draft.

Three years later, he starred in his own reality dating series calling Catching Kelce.

During the show, Kelce went on dates with more than 50 women from across the US but was left without a girlfriend at the end.

On his podcast, Kelce said he did the show for financial reasons, joking that he was “broke” and “needed a dollar”.

“I thought you were looking for love?” Jason said.

“Yeah, that too. Still searching for it ... 10 years later and still nothing.”

Despite being unlucky in love – until now – Kelce has had a stellar football career.

He has been to the Pro Bowl eight times, has broken multiple records and was even ranked the fifth best player in the entire league prior to last year’s season.

To top off his huge list of achievements, he has played in the Super Bowl three times and won twice.

Kelce shut down speculation around his retirement this year saying he had “no desire to stop anytime soon”.

“I have no reason to stop playing football,” he said.

“I just love the challenge that it gives me every single day to try and be at my best.”
