From fearing she was in trouble with security to hugging Taylor Swift on stage, the happiest girl in Melbourne has been caught up in a whirlwind following Friday night’s performance.
Nine-year-old Milana Bruno was captured embracing Taylor on the edge of the stage in front of 96,000 people at the MCG during the first leg of the record breaking Eras Tour.
Starstruck and eyes filled with tears of joy, young Milana exchanged a friendship bracelet with the pop-star, was given an autographed hat and hugged her idol in what will now be an unforgettable memory for the young super fan.
Milana’s mother Renata Bruno told the Herald Sun she still couldn’t believe what had transpired, adding Milana and her 10-year-old daughter Claudia had been fans “forever”.
Having tried all of last year to get her hands on tickets for her daughters, even getting scammed once in the process, Ms Bruno said she feared there was no way her daughters would be able to see Taylor Swift during her Australian tour this summer.
After being told by a friend about the re-release of tickets on Tuesday morning, she said she was able to get off the waiting list and purchase B-reserve tickets in about 15 minutes.
When Ms Bruno arrived at the concert with her daughters on Friday, she realised they were going to have trouble seeing the stage from where they were seated.
“My girls were dancing on the chair because they were so far back they couldn’t really see her [Taylor Swift],” she said.
Ms Bruno said two concert staff members had approached her during the show and asked if Milana and Claudia were her daughters.
Initially she thought her girls were going to get in trouble for standing on the seats.
“She has to come with us,” one of the staff members told Ms Bruno.
When she asked why her daughter was being marshalled away, Ms Bruno said the staff member’s face beamed.
“Trust me, she is going to want to come with us,” she said.
Ms Bruno and Claudia tailed behind Milana as she was led through the crowd of adoring fans towards the stage.
“We had to step back when Taylor approached her and she gave Taylor a little friendship bracelet that she had made in exchange for Taylor’s hat,” she said.
“Milana was just crying, she was just so starstruck, just could not believe it.”
Ms Bruno said she was shaking too, finding it hard to take in how surreal the encounter actually was.
Young Milana told the Herald Sun she had a brief conversation as Taylor gave her a hat an a guitar pick used during the show, which she has since given to her sister.
“Awh, thank you so much for coming,” Taylor told Milana on stage.
Following the awe inspiring moment, Ms Bruno said there would be no way her daughter would consider selling Taylor’s hat, adding Milana had told her she was “keeping it forever”.
