Taylor Swift fans are celebrating the opening night of the pop superstar’s highly-anticipated The Eras tour.
The concert held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground not only marked her first show of the Australian tour, but also the biggest crowd Swift has ever performed to. Swift hit the stage just after 7pm and greeted the crowd of 96,000 people.
“Losing my mind at there being 96,000 people here. This is the biggest show that we’ve ever done. I’m fully starstruck by the fact so many people wanted to hang out with us on a Friday night in Melbourne!” an emotional Swift told the crowd.
The 3-hour-and-15-minute show found Swift travelling through each of her eras one by one, showcasing the four original studio albums — Lover, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights — she’s recorded since her 2018 Reputation tour.
Thousands of fans lined up early Friday afternoon ahead of the show, donning their best Taylor Swift outfits.
Swifties took to social media before, during and after the Eras tour launch on Friday, sharing dazzling photos and videos of the concert’s impressive production.
One young fan was left in tears after Swift hugged her and gave her her own hat during the performance.
