Used to baring her body in swimwear, model Elyse Knowles has bared her soul in a raw interview where she opens up about her insecurities and fears.
The Melbourne-born beauty admits she’s been scared to show her true self in the past, but realises now it is important to share the dark as well as the lighter side of life.
“It’s OK to feel insecure, everyone has insecurities. I want to teach the younger generation to just embrace being you,” she says.
“I don’t want to project this perfect world, I want it to be real.”
The comments come as part of a new Myer campaign, Layers of Me, that explores the human side of the brand’s ambassadors.
“I feel comfortable when I’m crazy, when I’m fun, when I’m raw. I didn’t have the courage to do that at the start,” she says.
“We’re scared to be the real us sometimes but we really need to show that more, we need to be powerful women.”
The new campaign concept, which also includes Kris Smith and Asher Keddie, is designed to show the ambassadors as nuanced people rather than just faces.
“I appreciate Myer is digging deep to the layers of us, the good and bad, the light and the dark,” Knowles says.
Myer spokesperson Gemma Hunter says the campaign aims to show the light and shade, triumphs and vulnerabilities and the truly human side of its ambassadors.
“Layers of Me brings to life the stories of the people who shop with us, their style, their personality, all that makes them who they are, the intriguing multi layers of life and style, we are deeply honoured to share their stories,” she says.
