Gogglebox Australia star Isabelle Silbery is due to give birth this week, but it hasn’t been an easy pregnancy for the star.

Gogglebox Australia returns for another hilarious season

Gogglebox Australia star Isabelle Silbery has opened up about her mental health as she prepares to welcome her second child.

In a candid interview with the Herald Sun, the reality TV star revealed her pregnancy has been particularly difficult given she is struggling with pre-natal depression.

Isabelle has suffered a few miscarriages in the past and this has added to her anxiety.

The Foxtel star is due to give birth this week to her second child with her husband Alex Richards. She has a nine-year-old son from a previous marriage.

“I should be over the moon but I did not feel like that, [and you ask] what’s wrong with me,” Isabelle told the outlet.

“My oldest is nine and it’s been so long between drinks, it takes so long to get your body back and your mind back and your lifestyle is so good now. It was just allowing myself to process that it will be OK.”

But with therapy and the right medication, the 36-year-old is determined to overcome her pre-natal struggles and help other women going through the same thing.

“It’s amazing when you start a conversation openly what then comes your way,” she said.

“So many women haven’t had the rainbows and butterflies pregnancies and it’s totally OK to not. And to kind of put your hand up when things aren’t feeling OK.”

Isabelle said she didn’t even know pre-natal depression existed as it’s more common to talk about post-natal depression.

“But pre-natal is also a thing,” she added. “Getting the right therapy and medication, now I feel so different about it. I’m ready and positive and I’m in the best head space I can be for this phase.”

The past year has been tough for Isabelle. In February, it was revealed her 94-year-old grandmother and fellow Gogglebox housemate Emmie was diagnosed with dementia.

Isabelle has starred on Gogglebox Australia since the show started in 2015, appearing on the Foxtel program with her nan and mum Kerry.

But earlier this year, it was announced Emmie would not join her family on the couch due to her diagnosis.

“The hardest part was actually telling her she wasn’t going to be on Gogglebox anymore,” Emmie’s daughter Kerry said on The Project at the time. “She said, ‘I’m perfectly alright! I’m not gaga!’”

“This is real life. Emmie is no longer able to do the show, and we wanted to be really transparent about that and not have her disappear off the couch,” Isabelle added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Isabelle broke down as she spoke about the “long goodbye” she was experiencing with her ailing grandmother.

“Sometimes I really wish that she’d just go, because she’s not the same. It’s just really hard,” she said.
