The expectant wife of Essendon Football Club captain Zac Merrett has been given the tick of approval by Hollywood royalty when it comes to her impeccable maternity style.
Alexandra Merrett, who’s due to give birth to the couple’s first child in coming weeks, took to TikTok in recent days to share her surprise at receiving the ultimate compliment from style icon Sofia Richie Grainge.
The daughter of legendary singer Lionel Richie, 26, weighed in on the first time mum’s fashion predicament while she was out hunting for an outfit to wear to the power couple’s baby shower.
Filmed inside the dressing room of a Melbourne fashion boutique, a glowing Merrett modelled a stunning floor-length pink number with 3D floral detailing.
Seeking the unfiltered opinions of her almost 10K followers, the stunning brunette captioned the short clip: “Is this too extra for my baby shower”.
While hundreds of followers took to the comment section to share their hot takes, the most surprising response of all came from new mum Richie Grainge.
“I love it,” replied Richie Grainge, who welcomed daughter Eloise in May this year.
Merrett’s excited followers were quick to notice the high-profile endorsement, though none proved more shocked than the expectant mum.
“When you wake up to Sofia Richie Grainge telling you she loves your dress,” Merrett reacted, covering her mouth before her jaw dropped.
“When Sofia Richie Grainer says she loves it, you buy it.”
But it would appear the star’s advice wasn’t enough to convince Merrett, who later opted for a classic baby blue strapless top and white pants for the big event.
Richie Grainge has in recent years captivated a new legion of followers after debuting her ‘old money’ style ahead of her 2023 South of France nuptials to record label CEO Elliot Grainge.
Her style evolution - which saw high-end designers like Chanel chomping at the bit to dress Richie Grainge - proved a far cry from the daring outfits she once donned while dating Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality star Scott Disick.
But Merrett’s not the local TikToker to catch the attention of Richie Grainge, with the sister of naughties favourite Nicole Richie also endorsing Melbourne influencer, designer Jacquie Alexander’s recent dance moves.
The fiance of Olympic hockey player Nathan Ephraums shared a brief clip to TikTok of her mimicking the same moves which saw Richie Grainge go viral online last week.
“Oh wow obsessed,” Richie Grainge said.
