Just this week, former Nine Network sports anchor Cameron Williams was facing court in Sydney, denying he drunkenly assaulted his wife during a heated, late-night argument.
Back in Melbourne, a well respected sports media personality was also facing court recently.
He will front up again in the new year to contest having breached a family violence order.
Unlike in NSW, strict legal restrictions in Victoria prevent media from naming the accused in family court proceedings.
This has led to the law protecting the perpetrator as much as the victim.
The media stalwart will face court in February and has engaged a top criminal barrister to represent him.
