Sunday Footy Show hosting gig up for grabs with Tony Jones heading over to Wimbledon

Eddie McGuire may be about to take on a bigger role on Channel 9 when Tony Jones jets off to London.

Overlooked Tony Jones says he doesn’t want Peter Hitchener’s job (3AW)

Which ego will win out?

That’s the question being asked at Channel 9’s Docklands studio as the jockeying for the coveted Sunday Footy Show host chair starts to ramp up.

With Tony Jones heading over to Wimbledon next month, a replacement in the main chair is being sought and we hear there are plenty chomping (sorry, couldn’t resist) at the bit to get the gig.

Former Western Bulldogs and Richmond star Nathan Brown has never lacked confidence and he has been the most vocal of the panellists about sliding into TJ’s role.

Brown, who is also a Sportsbet ambassador, has increased his airtime recently at Nine and is a regular on the Today Show.

Or will Nine wheel out one of their other more experienced hosts from its other football show Footy Classified, either Eddie McGuire or Craig Hutchison?

Nary a female name was mentioned for top spot (surprise, surprise), but Page 13 loves nothing more than a battle of the puffed up male ego.
