Reason behind Georgia Love’s all-expenses paid trip to Saudi Arabia

After losing lucrative deals and being taken off the air after that casual racism scandal, Georgia Love’s reason for travelling to Saudi Arabia is mind boggling.

Georgia Love faces fallout from casually racist Instagram post

Resident put-your-foot-in-it influencer Georgia Love lost several lucrative sponsorship deals and was backbenched from her on-air reporting role with Channel 7 last year.

That was after posting an offensive video of a cat in a dumpling restaurant along with the caption “shop attendant or lunch?”

So why an all-expenses paid jaunt to Saudi Arabia, a country well known for its human rights atrocities (not to mention weekly beheadings of women, journalists and members of the LGBTQIA community) seemed a good idea is mind boggling.

A group of influencers from around the globe was flown to Saudi Arabia to promote the Middle East country.

After all, there were sunset selfies to take, Arabian coffee to sip on and sprawling deserts to four-wheel drive over.

After sniffing a wave of criticism, Love’s husband Lee Elliott (whom she met on The Bachelorette and who is also on the trip) praised the country, saying the trip was organised and run “solely by women who are here on the ground leading the tour on us”.

Love later deleted all traces of the sponsored trip, but that didn’t stop her contingent of influencer mates from posting every detail, which seemed to feature only male tour guides.

Go figure!

Love has not been paid for her trip, but a source has told Page 13 Saudi Arabian tourism had approached Love and was footing the bill for all airfares, accommodation and expenses.

A five-star trip, but no extra cash in the pocket. It’s called a paid partnership.
