Tapping into her “high priestess” helped Tassie girl Petty pull out of a downward spiral where she felt isolated, paranoid and at a loss mentally and spiritually.

Petty now wants to teach other young women to connect with their inner goddess by starting The Tarot Teahouse, where she will give oracle readings.

She told Page 13 her life started unravelling after she was a bridesmaid at Princess Mary’s wedding to Crown Prince Frederick in Denmark in 2004.

“Losing my best friend in a sense, I mean we are still really close, but losing her after the royal wedding was a really difficult 10 years,” she says. Petty had moved to Adelaide, where she was working in commercial radio and had a string of bad relationships. Some of those relationships turned violent and she felt unable to go on.

“I wasn’t in a good emotional space and it really forced me to either fall off the grid mentally, or to seek help,” she told Page 13. “So I found a local energy healer.”

The healer helped her tap into the spirit world and discover her own power. Petty gives readings to friends since moving to Melbourne.

Petty says she is still really close with the Princess.

“It was always in me but I’d become so closed down.”

A true best friend, Petty would not reveal if she had given Princess Mary an oracle reading.

Petty has written a book on her dark times, which she plans to release this year. She hopes The Devil Card will enlighten women.

“The book is all about addiction, paranoia and feeling like you are held hostage to a situation,” Petty says. “I felt so lonely then but it forced me to get help and put me on this spiritual path. One of the big issues which stems from my childhood was fearing love, thinking it would always be taken away from me because of the relationship I had with my father. Then ending up in the spotlight of my best friend’s huge love story. I felt I’d never have love like that.”

Petty will give oracle readings on February 5, 12 and 19 at The Tarot Tea House The Milton Bar in Elwood.
