As most Melburnians shiver through the current cold snap, the state’s rich-listers are wedding in the same lavish venue as the Clooneys and partying in Mykonos mansions.

As the cold snap, and even a wee earthquake, rumbled through the state this week it gets harder to toss back the blankets.

But over there it’s la dolce vita.

The sweet life is all European destination weddings, beers at Lord’s at the Ashes, or Mykonos mansion parties with the Hemsworths.

First stop Venice, where the wedding of the year this week saw Melbourne restaurant king Chris Lucas marry glamorous longtime fiancee Sarah Lew in a traditional Jewish ceremony at the luxury Aman hotel.

That’s where George and Amal Clooney tied the knot.

Guests from the sartorial set to homegrown rich-listers were seen arriving by boat, with international designer Rick Owens turning heads as a guest with his Melbourne model and muse, protege, design collaborator and whispered toyboy, the chiselled, towering Tyrone Dylan Susman.

Melbourne designer Effie Kats, who is also soon to wed, and stylists Chris Kontos and Elliott Garnaut were enjoying the celebrations while Lavazza coffee heiress Michelle Valmorbida and members of the Geminder family, including Richard Pratt’s daughter Fiona, her husband Raphy and their model daughter Bella, looked ultra chic in head-to-toe black.

Newlyweds Guillaume Brahimi and chicken heiress Tamie Ingham, who recently tied the knot lavishly in Paris, were also at what could have been mistaken for a royal wedding as guests smiled and waved to onlookers from the second floor of the hotel’s ballroom balcony.

Set along the Grand Canal, the 24-room palazzo was built in 1550 and renovated in the 1800s as a hub for entertaining Venetian society.

The couple married earlier this month in a civil ceremony in Melbourne, with the bride wearing YSL.

In Venice, Sarah, who is the ex daughter-in-law of billionaire rag trader Solomon Lew, wore a creation from homegrown couturists J’Aton.

Sarah has fast become an “it’ girl in the fashion world, building a strong social media following thanks to her stylish and chic posts.

Over in Greece it was all opa at sunsets with radio host Lauren Phillips and her aviation tycoon partner Paul O’Brien again living it up with the Hemsworth clan.

The couple partied at a seaside Mykonos mansion with Liam, Chris and equally ripped Hemsworth father Craig dancing with Hollywood megastar Matt Damon and his Spanish wife Luciana Barroso.
