Clearly feeling the effects of the Married At First Sight ratings grab, Channel 7 has announced the reboot of a controversial dating show from the early 2000s, in an effort to lure reality TV romantics back to their network.

The MAFS effect is clearly a thing.

Channel 7 will tomorrow announce a reboot of Temptation Island which follows four dating couples as they are coaxed away from their relationships by a bunch of singles.

Cue the drama.

“From risque parties to romantic adventures, Temptation Island is the ultimate test of faithfulness,’’ said Seven’s Director of Network Programming Angus Ross.

The original series aired on Seven in 2002 with a cast including Kyly Clarke, Nick Russian and Cassie Lane.

Seven says the recent return of Temptation Island in the US after 15 years saw a 92% above slot average for the 18-49 female demo on the USA Network.

And the record-breaking season finale attracted 1.7m viewers, 68% above slot average.
