Seven Productions have issued a fully-vaxxed, or no-work mandate to presenter, cast and crews as divisions grow between who do and don’t support the jab.
An email from Director of Production at Seven West Media Andrew Backwell, seen by the Herald Sun, was sent to staff this week.
It said a recent health and safety review meant they will “only engage fully vaccinated presenters, cast and crew.”
Employees from Seven Productions, which includes Home And Away and Better Homes And Gardens, will need to be double jabbed from January 10 “when we return from the summer shutdown.”
“It is clear with COVID still around, life including attending work comes with the risk of contracting and transmitting COVID. We want to reduce this risk,” Backwell wrote.
A Seven spokesperson told the Herald Sun they had identified roles within Seven Productions that have elevated risk due to the type or place of work.
“To provide the safest possible work environment for cast, crew and presenters, Seven Productions have made the decision to only engage those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, taking effect in January next year,” they said.
“Seven strongly encourages vaccination to protect our people, their colleagues and their families.”
The Seven spokesperson would not comment on individuals, but did clarify that if staff were not fully vaxxed by that date they would not be able to continue working.
This has sent a clear message to Home and Away’s Sam Frost.
The former Bachelorette posted a now-deleted video earlier this month citing her reasons for not getting the jab and deactivating her account.
