Shai Bolton’s pleas for the return of his stolen AFL premiership medals this week reminded Page 13 of the curious custody case of another AFL prize.

Whispers were flying fast about how a former AFL star’s collection of silverware had been caught up in the assets and property settlement amid a messy divorce.

Who got to keep the prized collection? Not since Jobe Watson’s missing Brownlow has there been such intrigue over footy paraphernalia.

Page 13 made some early inquiries, (full disclosure, we sent one obviously well-landed text) only for a legal letter to boot straight in from a prominent family quickly demanding us to cease and desist.

“It has been brought to my client’s attention that details in relation to the family law dispute between my client and (redacted), have been provided to you, and potentially to other journalists and/or media agencies.

“As you will be aware, section 121 of the Family Law Act 1975 prohibits the publication of any details which may identify parties... A contravention of section 121 is a criminal offence, punishable by imprisonment of up to one year.”

Wo wo wo. Seems we were right on the right mark. But just who ended up with the ol’ silverware is only for the courts to know.
