Mia Fevola says ex Daniel Rioli will always be a part of her famous family

Mia Fevola has revealed ex Daniel Rioli will always be part of her famous family despite their split as she begins new role for Melbourne Fashion Week.

Mia Fevola is excited to be attending Melbourne’s first fashion runway since lockdown was lifted as part of Melbourne Fashion Week on Tuesday.

The ambassador and fashion designer will join a small group of fashion lovers at the Arid Gardens Runway in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Fevola, former girlfriend of Tigers star Daniel Rioli, says she is looking forward to seeing collections from designers including Nevenka, Alice McCall, Joslin, Torrance, We Are Kindred and Akira.

“I’ve always loved it, but especially now with my own brand it’s nice to see all trends and be inspired by that,” she says.

Fevola started her own label MALLT earlier this year and says the business kept her going through the hard lockdown, as well as completing her final year of a marketing degree.

“There’s no graduation ceremony unfortunately, I was really looking forward to that. It will just be a virtual event,” she says.

“I’m one of the first of my friends to graduate. It’s a weird feeling not having anyone else graduating with me, most of them took gap years or are studying longer degrees.”

Fevola and Rioli confirmed their split in February after two years together and despite posting a touching tribute to him after this year’s Grand Final, she says they have not reunited.

“Daniel and I are really good friends. I’m not seeing anyone,” she says.

“Daniel is really close to my family (he lived with them for two years while the couple were dating). He always talks to them. I don’t think he’ll ever be able to get rid of dad.”

City of Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp says she’s looking forward to kicking Melbourne Fashion Week off with the Arid Gardens Runway.

“During the week there will also be six, free pop runways that will surprise and delight people across the city. Our fashion and retail industries normally contribute $2.17 billion to the City of Melbourne’s economy and employ 21,000 people, so it’s critical we kickstart their economic recovery. This event is all about bringing the buzz back to our city and keeping Melburnians in jobs.”
