Kath and Kim reunion to air on Channel 7

The foxy ladies from Fountain Lakes are officially back and – look at moi – they can’t wait to bring fans up to date on their “effluent life” in 2022.

Gina Riley and Jane Turner are back as Kath and Kim.

Twenty years on it appears not much has changed for the foxy ladies from Fountain Lakes.

The Kath & Kim reunion is on for young and old with two specials, Kath & Kim’s Effluent Life, to air on Channel 7 next month.

“Well Kim has never actually moved out for more than a week, so it’s not so much of a reunion, as, here we go again peoples!” Kath said.

Dynamic duo Kath Day-Knight and Kim Craig (nee Day), the alter egos of Gina Riley and Jane Turner, are still flanked by their trusted entourage of Sharon Strzelecki (Magda Szubanski), Kel Knight (Glenn Robbins) and Brett Craig (Peter Rowsthorn).

Kim said: “I know the world has been waiting with bad breath to see me in the flesh again and of course Sharon’s hanging on trying to block my shine, but no one can take away the light under my enormous bushel.”

Kath & Kim (Gina Riley and Jane Turner) are back with Sharon Strzelecki (Magda Szubanski), Kel Knight (Glenn Robbins) and Brett Craig (Peter Rowsthorn).

Kath said it was special to come together again with an array of special guests and of course Brighton shop assistants Prue & Trude.

“Kel is inventing a sausage to commemorate the occasion … he’s thinking Mutton dressed as Lamb, with ham,’’ she said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing Kel and me going for it in all manner of venues! No but seriously it will be a scream to visit some of the fashion we used to wear.”

Kath & Kim executive producer Rick McKenna said the specials will bring viewers a slice of their lives today with some never-before-seen moments.

“The essence of it is we wanted to celebrate and we wanted a reunion but no one wanted to mess with the series,’’ he said.

“It’s the family as of today. Everyone involved is incredibly proud and flattered by the love fans give from around the world. There are fans of the show who weren’t even born when the show was produced. It’s amazing how much laughter there was on set and that comes to life.”

If you’re wondering, this is what Kath & Kim are up to these days.

“I’ve recently finished my TAFE degrees in mindlessness and App building and tonight pacifically I’m doing Manu in a shoe pastry,’’ Kath said.

Kim said: “Being a momager to Epponnee I’m working on her having a moment, and being a Thing.”
