Hugh Jackman pulled off a daring escape from a swarm of fans in New York, with video showing him jumping into a random car in the street.

Hugh Jackman has been filmed hailing a random car in New York to escape a fan frenzy.

The Australian actor, 56, could be seen outside the Radio City Music Hall, where he’s just kicked off a residency with his show From New York, With Love, when he was swarmed by dozens of people seeking selfies and autographs.

In a bid to flee, which is somewhat unusual for the typically hospitable star, Jackman gestured his hand at an approaching car, signalling for the driver to pull over.

“How you doing brother?” Jackman was heard asking the gobsmacked driver.

“Where are you goin’?” the Wolverine actor continued, with the driver responding, “Sixth Avenue.”

“Let’s go,” Jackman said, before he hopped in the back seat.

It comes after Jackman’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, broke her silence in a bombshell statement after their separation almost two years ago.

In a statement published by the Daily Mail last month, Furness, who was married to Jackman for almost 30 years, spoke of experiencing “traumatic betrayal” that “cut deep”.

“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” Furness said.

“It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.’”

Furness went on to say that she had “gained much knowledge and wisdom” through “the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage”.

“It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom,” she said.

Furness finished the statement by offering the “one thing” she had learned in the split.

“None of this is personal,” she wrote.

Furness’ statement came after she finally filed for divorce from Jackman, who has since moved on with actress Sutton Foster.

She reportedly submitted paperwork in New York on May 23 after they had privately reached a divorce agreement which is said to have involved “a handsome spousal support payment”.
