Why is Kate Stevenson leaving 3AW Breakfast?

A familiar voice on the all-conquering Ross and Russel program, executive producer Kate Stevenson is leaving 3AW after 14 years.

The changes in the Melbourne radio market keep coming with a favourite from the city’s top rating show set to make a surprising departure.

Hot on the heels of Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy pulling the pin on their Triple M Hot Breakfast show, Kate Stevenson has confirmed she is departing 3AW’s all conquering Ross and Russel show and moving to corporate media role.

Stevenson has been a vital cog in the close knit team that works on 3AW breakfast for a decade.

She has been the show’s executive producer for seven years and in total she has been at AW for 14 years.

Stevenson is a regular voice on the massive rating breakfast show, which had a 28.4 per cent share of the audience in the most recent ratings survey, and co-hosts the Saturday morning food and travel show A Moveable Feast with Ross Stevenson.

She has also been a regular co-host of breakfast during Summer and ratings breaks.

Stevenson’s will farewell the show and AW’s loyal listeners on Friday (November 20).

“After fourteen years at 3AW and a decade on the Breakfast program, I’m moving on,” Stevenson said.

“I’ve had some tremendous experiences during my time at the station and been lucky enough to be part of a highly successful team, but more importantly an immensely fun and supportive one.

“It’s a tough decision to leave, but I do so knowing I’ve forged lifelong friendships and can turn on the radio any time for my fix.”
