Acclaimed actor Stephen Curry is set to blow things up at Channel 7.

Curry and comedian Becky Lucas, alongside balloon expert Chris Adamo, will host Blow Up, a competition show that will see Australia’s best balloon artists, decorators and twisters go head-to-head turning balloons into works of art.

Blow Up is to balloons what Channel 9’s popular Lego Masters is to those famous little building blocks.

“Blow Up is a celebration of artistry, skill, design and unbridled imagination,” Curry said of the balloon sculpture show.

“I’m so incredibly excited to be embarking on this bonkers adventure with Becky

and these exceptionally talented artists, which is sure to remind me once again of my distinct

lack of any discernible skills whatsoever. Rest assured, this is not ‘balloon animals and

pirate swords’ – this is full scale, high-art balloon sculpture.

“As a father of two, I’ve promised my boys there will be no balloon-related dad jokes. As their pop, I simply refuse to leave them deflated on this issue. I simply won’t do it.

“I’m so chuffed to be walking the hallowed halls of Channel 7. A network steeped in tradition – and truly an enormous part of the fabric of Australian television history. That is to be respected. And if I find Larry Emdur’s dressing room, I plan to steal his curling-wand and sell it to Becky at an inflated price.”

Filming will begin in Melbourne in September.

Special tribute to Di Kershaw

Gogglebox Australia will dedicate the first episode of its new season to its former cast member Di Kershaw who lost her battle with throat cancer last month.

Kershaw and her husband, Mick, were part of the Gogglebox family for 15 seasons.

The return of Gogglebox will bring with it a new household of viewers, the Brisbane-based First Nation TV aficionados Kevin, Bob, Jared and Mia.

Kevin has been in a relationship with Bob for five years and the couple have two children.

Kevin first met Jared and Mia, who are friends, at university.

The returning Gogglebox cast are The Delpechitra Family, Lee and Keith, Anastasia and Faye, The

Daltons, Emmie, Kerry, and Isabelle Silbery, Sarah Marie, Matty, their son Malik and ‘Uncle’ Jad, Adam and Symon, Milo and Nic, and brother and sister foodies Tim and

Leanne.

Season 16 of Gogglebox Australia launches on Wednesday, August 24 on FOXTEL and airs on Channel 10 the following night.
