Footy kicked a fashion goal with some of the AFL’s hottest couples turning out in force to support a new unisex streetwear label with sporty links.
A new era of power wags is emerging.
Essendon AFL stars, Jayden Laverde and Zach Merrett launched their fashion brand DRYP at The Third Day in North Melbourne on Friday night, but it was the show of footy love matches that turned heads as much as the practical, versatile and stylish collection.
New AFL glamour couple Sam Durham and Paris Bishop looked comfortable on the media wall.
DRYP co-founder Merrett was accompanied by his partner Alexandra Bourne while Laverde arrived with Abbey Kosmatos.
Jake Stringer and his partner Taylor McVeigh supported his Bomber teammates, as did Sam Draper and Izzy Burgess.
DRYP’s first drop features eight pieces including hoodies, crew jumpers and tees.
For Laverde and Merrett the brand is a passion and a step towards the pair preparing for life after their playing days end.
“We wanted to create a fashion line that reflects our personal style and fits perfectly” Laverde said.
“AFL is a demanding and unpredictable career and it’s important for us to think about a life beyond football.
“Starting DRYP has allowed us to explore new skills and challenge ourselves. It’s been an incredible experience”.
Merrett added: “This venture into fashion encourages us to broaden our horizons and apply our discipline and teamwork in new ways. DRYP is our way of combining our passion for fashion with the values and dedication we’ve learned from AFL”.
