Rugby League bad boy Sam Burgess is tipped to take a surprising plunge into reality TV.
Burgess has seen his personal life splashed over front pages in recent months with the ugly breakdown of his marriage to his wife Phoebe. Last month he was charged with driving an unregistered car in Sydney.
He retired from his Rugby League career with the South Sydney Rabbitohs at the end of 2019.
Amid all of this chaos, according to well placed TV sources, Burgess has been approached and is believed to be considering signing up for Channel 7’s SAS: Australia.
The reality show strips celebrities of the trappings of wealth, privilege and fame and subjects them to physical and mental challenge along with interrogations.
Burgess’s management did not respond to a request for comment.
Melbourne socialite Brynne Gordon (Edelsten) is also tipped to be on the show.
Former Collingwood and Greater Western Sydney player Heath Shaw is expected to be the former AFL player in the cast.
Olympian Jana Pittman is another well-known personality understood to have been approached.
Pittman was originally set to take part in the show last year but pulled out before filming started after discovering she was pregnant.
