Breakfast radio hours and a hectic seven day work schedule has forced Nova host Clint Stanaway to dramatically overhaul his life.
Stanaway, part of Nova FM’s Jase & Lauren show, has undergone physical and lifestyle transformation to be ‘matchfit’ for Melbourne’s brutal breakfast radio war and to be at the top of his game while working in Paris covering the Olympics later this month.
Stanaway, 41, has dropped nine kilograms, going from 92.5kg to 83.5kg following an intense 12 week training program shaped by personal trainer Matt Boland.
“I lost track of my personal time and found it difficult to manage my fitness,” Stanaway said while revealing his buff new look in Men’s Health magazine.
“From there, I started to put on weight and before I knew it, I was the heaviest I’ve ever been at 92.5kg.
“My lifestyle didn’t help. Seven mornings a week of radio and TV while eating on the run and not sleeping in meant that my mental health was suffering too.
“But really, I just hated seeing myself in the mirror. … That was the catalyst for change.”
As part of his overhaul Stanaway gave up chocolate and booze and resisted the temptation of sugary treats delivered to the Jase & Lauren studio.
“Some mornings I come in and there’s just boxes of doughnuts laying around and people saying ‘hey our friends from down the road sent these in, why don’t you try some?’.”
The improvements haven’t just been physical.
“Be it confidence, mental health, sleep, all of the above, I’ve found benefits in areas I didn’t expect to. I feel a level of confidence I never have before. It probably sounds really vain, but I just feel a lot more comfortable in my skin,” he said.
