Victorians back Nova’s Jase & Lauren as breakfast rivals Kyle & Jackie O dip in radio ratings war

KIIS FM’s The Kyle & Jackie O show has again failed to gain ground as part of its Melbourne takeover, with once loyal listeners seemingly jumping ship to a rival network.

The move to swoop on discarded duo Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips has paid quick dividends for Nova breakfast with the team stunning in the latest radio ratings survey.

Jase and Lauren, along with Clint Stanaway, climbed to second behind GOLD FM’s stable frontrunner Christian O’Connell, and overtook one-time leader FOX FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick.

The pair, who started in March after being dumped by KIIS FM, gained 0.9 per cent to move to 9.6, behind O’Connell on 10.8 and above Fifi, Fev and Nick on 9.5.

Sydney powerhouse The Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS FM failed to gain ground in their first full survey. They came in at a lowly 5.9 while in Sydney they recorded a whopping 14.1 – but still a small drop of 0.6.

3AW’s Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft had the largest breakfast share of 18.8 but did dip by 1 per cent.

ABC Melbourne had a pleasing survey and an upturn in key markets, Sammy J in breakfast rising one per cent to 7.3 and mornings with Raf Epstein lifting by 0.5 to 6.5.

In drive 3AW’s Jacqui Felgate went down by 0.5 to 7.5 while Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little pushed further in front on 11.

Triple M’s The Rush Hour with JB and Billy made significant ground, surging to 9.7.

Nova’s team of Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel gained the most of 1.2 to come in at 8.9.

In afternoons smoothfm maintained top share, and in mornings trailed 3AW’s Tom Elliott who dropped from 17.5 to 15.8. He had started with some gains in his new timeslot.

On SEN the high profile breakfast show went up marginally while Gerard Whateley took the biggest hit in mornings, dropping from 5.9 to 4.8.
