Everyone wants to be a VIP these days and for a price, particularly at concert tours by the world’s biggest music artists, you can be.
Elton John rocks into Melbourne’s AAMI Park on his farewell tour on Friday January 13 and Saturday January 14 and the music icon is leading the way in VIP packages for fans.
While an average seat could cost around $250, super fans with a spare $1749.00 can indulge in the Ultimate Elton John VIP Experience. Included in the package is a photo opportunity on stage with Elton’s piano (but not Elton), an “awesome reserved floor ticket in the ULTRA-Exclusive VIP Section,” drinks and canapes in a hospitality lounge, and you even get to take your seat from the show home with you.
The next level down package, the Farewell Yellow Brick Road VIP Experience, will set you back $1499.00 and includes a seat in the first ten rows as well as the photo opportunity with Elton’s piano.
The top VIP ticket package for British superstar Robbie Williams – the XXV VIP package – is priced at $795.00 when he plays Melbourne in November. It includes an A reserve seat, a pre-show backstage tour with no access to Williams, pre-show hospitality, a $50 voucher for merchandise shopping and a XXV tote bag.
Touring in February, Sting’s top ticket package, the My Songs Pre-Show Hospitality Experience, is $611.00. It includes an A reserved seat and access to a pre-show hospitality function with “a DJ playing your favourite Sting songs” and a photo opportunity in front of a VIP backdrop – whatever that means.
Sting doesn’t pop in to say ‘Hi’.
Rod Stewart, who is touring in March, has a “Front Row Hospitality Experience” priced at $1,018.40. That package gives you what you pay for – a front-row seat.
Delta Goodrem, meanwhile, has a VIP Meet and Greet package for her Melbourne shows in September priced at $599.00.
Capped at 150 people this is a VIP package where you actually meet the artist and get a premium seat at the show.
Naturally all VIP packages are limited in numbers and usually sell out quickly.
