Mummy influencer Amie Rohan has raised eyebrows after posting footage online of her young daughter playing inside a washing machine.
The footage, contained in a reel posted on Rohan’s Instagram on Saturday, shows her two-year-old daughter, Sadie-Rose inside the front loading washing machine with the door closed and then open.
“She was helping me with the washing. There is never a dull moment with this child, I swear,” Rohan wrote.
While the footage was clearly supposed to be lighthearted and heartwarming – a mother being entertained by her child while at home – the Sunday Herald Sun was contacted by several people disturbed by the activity, citing the potential danger of having young children in laundry appliances.
Washing machines and clothes dryers routinely include child safety warnings in their operating manuals stating children should not play with, or in, the appliances and should be supervised at all times around them.
Rohan is an influencer in the ‘mummy’ space with more than 43,000 followers on her Instagram. She is also a mental health and child loss awareness advocate.
The reel remains on Rohan’s social media and has had more than 7400 views.
Rohan and her manager were both contacted for comment.
Rohan was previously married to Geelong footballer Gary Rohan with whom she had three children.
The couple lost one of their twin daughters, Willow, at birth after she was born with a neural tube defect.
In May Rohan revealed she had a “new man” in her life who she started dating in February following her split with her husband in mid 2020.
“It’s really nice but keeping it to myself, I’ve got to have one piece of my life that isn’t for everyone else,’ she said.
“It’s made me realise I’m normal and I’m not a broken soul that’s not loveable. It’s exciting.”
