Melbourne’s society wedding of the year took place in Kew on Sunday as Georgia Geminder, the granddaughter of business tycoon Richard Pratt, tied the knot.

Geminder exchanged vows with her fiance, investment director, Matthew Danos.

The Chuppah took place in the late afternoon followed by a black-tie dinner in an enormous and elaborate custom built marquee at Raheen, the Pratt family’s seat of power, in Kew.

Geminder wore a delicately beaded strapless gown accessorised with fingerless glovelettes in the same material by Melbourne’s couture masters J’Aton – Jacob Luppino and Anthony Pittorino.

Geminder and Danos wed in a traditional Jewish ceremony at 4pm on Sunday at Raheen, the Pratt family home.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “Matthew and Georgia are overjoyed after becoming husband and wife in an intimate ceremony, surrounded by loved ones. Their ceremony and reception took place at much loved family home Raheen in Kew, Melbourne. The private event was attended by those close friends and family. Georgia wore a dress by J’Aton. The couple was married in a traditional ceremony.”

The wedding took place in a marquee in the gardens of Raheen with a clear roof to allow the sunlight to shine through as Geminder walked the silver reflective aisle accompanied by her parents Fiona and Raphael Geminder.

Geminder was supported by eight bridesmaids including her sisters Bella and Sammy.

She later swapped out of her elegant J’Aton wedding gown into a sparkly, fun frock for the post reception party.

Incredible detail went into the planning of the celebration including having the couple’s names and monogram embossed on the crockery used at the reception dinner, the menu for which was overseen by lauded chef Guillaume Brahimi.

In-N-Out burgers were provided for guests on the dancefloor late in the evening.

Guests were asked in lieu of gifts to make a donation to one or both of two charities specified by the couple.

The wedding was the talk of the Birdcage on Saturday, Victoria Derby Day, underlining that a true Melbourne “it” girl was getting married.

Much of the chatter on racing’s most elegant and fashionable day centred around which Melbourne designer had been tasked with creating Geminder’s wedding gown.

Guests were invited to attend a wedding recovery brunch in Toorak on Monday with the bride and groom.

Geminder has been on a wedding countdown on social media in recent weeks sharing images from her bridal party and hens day.

On Friday she posted images, including pictures of her and Danos, her and her dad, and her and her sisters Bella and Sammy, from a family and friends dinner at Nick Russian’s Bar Bambi in the CBD.

“The countdown is on. T-minus 2 days,” wrote a friend on an image of Geminder which the bride-to-be re-posted on her Instagram.

Geminder, whose parents are Fiona and Raphael Geminder, is an entrepreneur and is busy growing her successful oral healthcare brand GEM.

The former model made the 2022 Forbes 30 Under 30 List in Asia with her GEM brand.

The idea for GEM started when Geminder was modelling and noticed a shift in the beauty industry towards natural, clean products. She saw a gap in the personal care space around the mouth and teeth, which led to her creating GEM.
