Australian actor and producer Margot Robbie’s run of success in Hollywood has continued with Promising Young Woman, the latest film from her LuckyChap Entertainment production company, named Best Film at The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) International Awards.
Promising Young Woman also took out the Best Lead Actress in Film award for Carey Mulligan’s compelling performance as Cassie Thomas.
Chloé Zhao was named Best Director for her work on Nomadland.
The Best Lead Actor in Film award went to Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
The Trial of the Chicago 7, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, won Best Screenplay in Film and Best Supporting Actor in Film for Sacha Baron Cohen.
Olivia Colman was named Best Supporting Actress in Film for The Father.
In the TV categories The Queen’s Gambit was named Best Drama Series with Anya Taylor-Joy collecting the Best Actress in a Series award for her work as chess prodigy, Beth Harmon.
Aaron Pedersen was named Best Actor in a Series for his role as Detective Jay Swan in the ABC drama, Mystery Road.
Schitt’s Creek was named Best Comedy Series.
